Senior Design Project (undergrad level)

As one out of a group of four students working over a research-based project over the framework and applications of Sun’s Jini API of JAVA, I was mostly involved in the research, design and the presentation phases of our proposed model. We worked on this project on my proposal based on my interest in Ubiquitous computing. We researched, designed, developed, and integrated variety of plug ’n’ play (both hardware and software) services in order to demonstrate our research. The system consisted of an RMI server, various Jini enabled RMI clients, and the plug ‘n’ play network services (LEGO robot, CCD camera mounted on the LEGO robot, distributed wave to mp3 encoder, etc.).

Our research proved exceptionally fruitful and we were awarded with ‘A’ grades for the six (3+3) credit hour course. We were also announced as the runner ups during our industrial open house presentation. Again, our poster presentation won the second prize in the open house.
