Multimedia Projects

GIK Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology, Topi, N.W.F.P, Pakistan

My desire of multimedia emerged as an attachee/accomplice of Salman Ishaq (batch 5) and Hisham Abid (batch 5), while they were working on a promotional video for a local society they run at GIK Institute, the Vision Club, which was the first digital video produced by anyone at GIK Institute. Although my work was mainly as an observer and critic, but, I can proudly say that I am one third of the digital revolution at the institute.

I have worked on various multimedia projects, mostly,  with our great team, "MHz Productions" and also won awards for our best amature work, collectively and individually. We have been actively participating ain all the movie chores (acting, directing, editing, compositing, lights, camera, producing, ... you name it, we did it). My room at the hostel used to be named studio 21 due to the excessive multimedia work we did over there. Some of the noticeable works are mentioned as under.

[ 1999 ] Fear of the Dark (Movie)

I still remember how Taha "Xena" Ali, Umar Piracha, and I came up with this Idea. Initially, Taha and I thought of producing this horror flick, but, due to lack of resources and time constraints we had to rethink the idea in a comic perspective later on. Muhammad "Bruce" Haseeb, Umar Piracha, Fahad Mahboob, and Rehan Yousaf amazingly handled the cameras and editing for first-timers.

[ 2001 ] Beggarman Thief (Movie)- A Subcontinental James Bond Parody

I miss those days when Taha "Xena" Ali, and myself used to discuss about producing this James Bond movie after preceding hit, “Fear of the Dark”. Original storyline was mostly plotted by Taha, and less by me. But, later on, due to loss of our various 3D animation, special effects and recordings, Taha solely made the ends meet and we ended up producing something that was not half as good as the original screenplay, but, we were able to finish it up and release the 56 minute movie for a local armature festival. It did save us from disappointment, rather, the movie preview/trailer is, as yet, supposed to be known as the best of all times.

The original movie contained half our engineering school population with a very long list of credits, but, the final release version only carried some 10% of the population and credits due to the mentioned loss.

The original production team included Taha "Xena" Ali (batch '8'), Umer Piracha (batch '8'), Rehan “Giant” Yousaf (batch '8'), Fahad Mahboob (batch '8'), Masood Alam (batch '3'), and myself (batch '8'). But, the people who saved the day by giving us a hand in the final stages and keeping the ships from sinking included Adeel Hashmi (batch '7'), Salman Khan (batch '9'), Omar “****” Iqbal Awan (batch '8'), Abidoon “Technologika” Nadeem (batch '8'), and Kamran Nisar (batch '10').

The movie trailer has been edited/composited in pre stage by Masood Alam, Rehan Yousaf, Fahad Mahboob and Myself, However, Salman Khan provided all the post production with Taha Ali.

The Movie was edited and merged in two parts shared between Salman Khan and myself with continuous input from our Xena. Moreover, you can see the “& Vicky” part repeatedly in the credits, which is my nick. I hope this proves my very involvement in the movie.

[ 2001 ] Netronix Inductions Commercial

Kamran Nisar's new Pentium-IV really helped both of us, Kamran and me, working together in order to conceive the idea with the best available SWF means. We used to run a huge network together and strived for more workforce/manpower to ease our hectic life. [ download 'netronix.swf' by right click and save as ... ]

[ 2001 ] GIKI-Mag Commercial

Angel Dust has this song named “Bleed”. I mastered it’s amazing riffs for the great soundtrack of the commercial for the launching of the first ever GIKI-Mag issue. I remember the sleepless nights working on flash in the room of Khayam Khan (batch . Pictures and the story was provided by Khayam Khan and Masroor Hamid (batch , and I worked them up on Flash and Photoshop.

[ 2001 ] Sabbath (Music Video)

The video was produced/directed by Imran Ahmad Khan (batch 7) and (Late) Syed Turab Ali Shah (batch 9). It was all their Idea while I did the capture and editing at my studio. Of course I’m right behind the camera 99% of the time, except the last few seconds where you can catch me in 0 LUX situation.

[ 2001 ] From the Cradle to Enslave (Music Video)

A great video from the great death metal band, Cradle of Filth, was re-made at our university premises. The video was produced/directed by Noman Ali (Batch , and captured/edited by me in my studio. Again, I’ve been operating the camera all of the time during the shoot.

[ 2001 ] PPG Production (Short/Comic)

PPG productions (batch chose my studio in order to give technical support (camera operations/editing). I handled them personally, but due to a very tight schedule Hamayun Jamil Mirza (batch did the last quarter of it’s post production.
